Factory Street Guest Bedroom
At Mackenzie & Co., we approach guest bedroom design with the intention of creating a boutique hotel-style experience. For this guest bedroom, we drew inspiration from the timeless elegance of a ‘sea captain’s quarters.’ The design blends rich, nautical influences with refined details—ornate brass accents that echo the hardware of historic sailing vessels, deep black decorative furniture, and carefully layered ocean blues introduced through textiles and patterns. The result is a space that feels storied, inviting, and seamlessly tied to its coastal setting.
We emphasize storytelling through styling—those small details that make a home feel lived-in. We love to incorporate personal touches and thoughtfully layer in vintage or antique finds to fill the space with character. In the Guest Bedroom, we achieved this by displaying Gavin Grasscloth Boxes, vintage art, Striped Seagrass Glass, and adding a carafe for water, ensuring a welcoming and personalized atmosphere for guests.
In the ensuite bathroom, our team designed a custom vanity, handcrafted in New York. Painted in Farrow & Ball Hardwick White and topped with an Opal White Marble countertop, it exudes a soft, timeless elegance that seamlessly complements the home’s aesthetic.
The true statement, however, is the shower—a continuation of the ocean blues introduced in the bedroom. We designed it as a curbless experience with a linear drain, a signature detail in all our projects for both its clean, modern look and seamless functionality. In this home, the curbless design was especially significant, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for aging in place while maintaining a refined and sophisticated feel.
